Privacy Policy - JCE Chess Studio for iPhone and iPad

JCE Chess Studio is developed by Jeff Rosengarden (“I”, “me”). This policy explains what the app does with your information. The short version: JCE Chess Studio does not collect any data. Nothing you do in the app is sent to me or to anyone else.

What data the app collects

None. JCE Chess Studio:

• does not connect to the internet - its chess engine, JCE, runs entirely on your device
• has no user accounts, sign-in or registration
• contains no analytics, advertising, tracking or crash-reporting software, and no third-party SDKs
• does not access your location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone

What stays on your device

The app stores a few things in its own storage on your device, so it can work:

• games you save, as FEN and PGN files
• files you choose to import
• your game results history
• your settings, such as skill level, board colours and time controls

This information never leaves your device through the app. If you use iCloud Backup or back up your device to a computer, Apple’s backup includes the app’s data under Apple’s own terms; I have no access to it.

Links and email

• The chess-piece credit in the app links to Wikimedia Commons. Tapping it opens that page in your web browser, under Wikimedia’s privacy policy.
• Contact Developer opens your own mail app with a message addressed to me. If you send it, I receive your email address and whatever you write. I use it only to reply to you, I never share or sell it, and I will delete it on request.

Sharing with third parties

I do not share any data with third parties, because the app collects none. No parent company, subsidiary, partner, analytics service or advertiser has access to any data from JCE Chess Studio.

Keeping and deleting your data

Data stored on your device stays there until you delete it. You can:

• delete saved games inside the app, from the Import FEN and Import PGN screens (the … menu beside each file)
• clear your results history from View Game Results
• delete the app, which removes all of its games, results and settings from your device

Because the app collects nothing, there is no consent to revoke and nothing held by me to delete. If you have emailed me and want that correspondence deleted, ask at the address below and I will do so.

Children

JCE Chess Studio collects no data from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
